We leave tomorrow for the 2012 Nationals at Mid Ohio.

If you can't make it, enjoy a FREE live webcast during this weekend's races at:

http://www.speedcasttv.com/nasa/

There is also live timing and scoring during the event here:

For more info:

I plan to drive Dad's 944 in either GTS1 or 2, so I hope to get some air time!

Thanks for your continued support of the Mid South region!

Did NASA scrap the rule that you have to do 5 races in a given class to be able to compete at nationals?

No, you just have to drive 5 races to be eligible.

it was (and is) 5 races period, and you can supplement with some TT "days" to boot, and also endurance races over a certain length count as two races. For TT only you have to have 5 TT days, races don't help you there.

There never was a restriction on running the same classe(s) you used to qualify as well. The closest thing is only TT specific, where they at their discretion can limit you to a car more similar to what you qualified with - ie they may raise an eyebrow if I sign up for TTR with an LMP1 car since I would have qualified in a TTF MR2 this year but a TTD type car would probably be fine.

Interesting. So you could theoretically run every race class that didn't happen to be racing at the same time. Thanks for the clarification.

Correct. There are many folks that run in a race group and TT. Dean Martin WON both AI and ST2 last year. Weird combo but there is a teenager from Texas running American Iron & Spec Miata this year.

Most I have seen is three different groups.

Udell will be quick, lots of seat time in both cars between NASA-TX stuff and Speed World Challenge...
