Mid Ohio is a fairly hard track on brakes. From the big braking zone at the end of the back straight all the way through the back section into the carousel they are used continually and have little time to cool. The hotter your brakes run the faster they wear. Also keep in mind that the thinner a pad gets the less heat it can shed, so a thin pad wears faster too. that is why the last little bit of friction material does not seem to last as long as when they are new.
Be sure to have a fresh back up set at Nationals so you don't run out during the Championship race.
