Since several regions are doing enduro's series in 2008 any chance of a enduro race at nationals??

You could group several classes together. Maybe a Thursday late day 3 hour enduro.

Would certainly help motivate folks on the fence about the local enduro's.

I'm sure people will be lining up to put three hours of hard-core use on their cars right before the championship race weekend starts.

No, no, no, you've got it all wrong.

I'll line up to put three hours of hardcore use on YOUR car right before the championship race weekend starts.

the racing was done pretty early on Sunday, but who knows how many and how long cars will be taken apart in Impound (see Spec Miata)

its such a jam-packed schedule, don't know where you'd fit it... but if its in there I'd love to share a race car with someone :P 8)

I agree that it should be considered that a 3 hour enduro be added to the National Championships.

Most regions have an active endurance schedule and its becoming a bigger part of the regional weekend.

Qualifying to race would be the same as for the National Championship (5 regional enduros).

Could be run early (maybe Thursday or Friday) in the weekend.

I know the powers that be do a lot of work(and a great job) to fit everything in the schedule as it is, but if there is a demand for it........

Having an enduro race at the nat's is a GREAT idea! There are alot of cars that are specific built cars for endurance racig only and have nowhere to go during the month of Sept. I would bet that the cars that participate in the 25 would certainly be in the national endurance race. I for one couldn't load my my trailer up fast enough to do a national endurance. My car is not competitive on the national sprint race level but is one demon for endurance racing.

on the other hand couldn't you consider the 25hr to be "the" National Endurance championship?

I'd feel a little silly winning a 3hr at Miller in Sept only to go to the 25 and get my butt handed to me on a silver platter

No, I would consider the 25 the "ultimate in ameature and pro" contest of the year. It is an animal all its own. I would hardly think that if you did well at the nats that you wouldn't get your butt kicked in the 25. on the other hand, not all nat participants would do the 25, as not all the WERC crowd enters the 25. The 25 is in a league of its own. For the nationals event format it would have to be a 4 hour contest because at 3 hours, I personally believe you could not get a true overall winner. Case and point: at 4 hours, All classes will have to stop for fuel. 4 hours leaves a good portion of the race to recover if you had something go wrong. At 4 hours, I would have to stop for fuel. What this does is take away our BIG advantage for nats because we can go 3 hours and 5 minutes on green flag racing and one driver. (no pit stops at 3 hours). The enduro nationals, I would consider the participants to be all NASA regulars from around the country where I would otherwise never get a chance at racing with them.
