Hey everyone!

First time posting on the forum-

I am doing competition school at TWS in a couple of weeks and I was hoping you guys could fill me in on how it is structured and answer a few questions for me.

My car will be running in AI. Will I need to have all the class designation decals, event decals, and windshield banner on the car for this weekend or do those go on for a regular race weekend after comp school?

What documentation for the car do I need to have on hand in order to pass tech to race?

Any insight/advice y'all could give would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Just send Will an e-mail. He'll fill you in with everything you need to know.

Hey wbryan45,

My name is Dennis - I race in the Super Unlimited Class. I went thru the comp school last summer - here is the drill - it's three days. On Friday night you will do a class - do yourself a favor read the rules - specifically the appendix on passing (I would personally appreciate it if you pass correctly :). You do the class and learn some of the important things about racing (passing correctly). Make sure you have a video camera in your car - so buy it before hand. Best to have a video camera - incidents can be resolved quite quickly with one.

Get yourself the R on the car (a big R should be taped onto your car). This tells everybody that you are new to racing and we should be careful and not expect you to know everything instead and out (I certainly don't - but some of the folks are amazing racers that do).

On Saturday you will skip the first race and work on side by side driving. Meaning - you will be asked to drive around the track (at slow speeds at first) with another car - car to car. After that - starts. You will learn about rolling starts and whats involved. I have to say outside of passing - this is super important. If you get pole we would all appreciate it if you start properly (bunch up!).

That's it - Saturday afternoon you race in the 2nd race of your run group. On Sunday you race both races. After 8 races you can remove the R's from your car.

If you need more help - just shoot me a PM - I'm in the blue radical (410).

Good luck and you will love it!
Dennis

After 8 races and the series director approval. 8 races does not automatically get the R removed.

Looks like the comp school will be on Friday all day.

So you get four races in this weekend, instead of three.

Wayde, the AI/CMC guys will be parked generally together. Stop in and say hello. Be open minded and have fun.

Like Dennis said, if you're relatively new, folks will want to become comfortable with your on-track awareness.

Looking forward to meeting you.
