Hello all, looking for some advice with purchasing a nomex or equivelant drivers suit. I understand the place not to be cheap is in the area of safety equiptment. However, are there any reasonaby priced suits out there that anyone would reccomend? I would like to stay under $500.00 if I can get a suit that will do the job and most importantly not pre-maturely wear out. Where would you reccomend I purchase a suit as well? I have a feeling finding a suit to fit right for me might be an issue as well so possibly having to return my first purchase might be a reality. I'm also interested in hearing from others that possibly have the same build as me as to what size and brand they wear. I'm 6'3" tall and consistently weigh between 195lbs. and 200lbs. Would a 2 piece suit possibly be a better option or fit better being im slightly taller? I'm also not opposed to buying a used suit, where is a good source to look for used equiptment?

I understand I'm asking a lot of questions here, your help and information is greatly appreciated.

A few comments.

Very unlikely you will find a used suit for your build. Also most sales are for smaller sized suits left over stock. You are tall, may be an issue depending on where your length is. You could possibly be into a custom suit.

Where are you located? Are there any race shops near you?

Most regulations require a 1 piece suit. Stick with that.

Highly recommended you get somewhere where you can actually try on a suit. Different makes in same size are not always the same.

Spend as much as you can on the lightest coolest most comfortable suit you can buy. More layers is better in protection even when rated equally. My older 3 layer Sparco Xlight is cool enough I can add a layer of nomex underwear and still be more comfortable than many lower cost 2 layer suits.

If you have a harness, buy a HANS.

Leaf is a Canadian company so you may be able to order a custom suit from them and get a cost break on the exchange rate. Get the template for sizing from them and go to a local tailor and have them measure you.

spend some time and what you are able to for a proper suit that fits well and is comfortable to wear (or you won't use it!)

this is the situation your suit is going to work to try and save you from:

This is where I bought my original double layer suit. Paid $250 for it and new it would have been over $1,000.
Have a look around his site, you may find something in your size:

Thank you very much for taking the time to reply as well as posting the link to the website. They appear to have quite a few to choose from. I'll double check my sizing and look over my options.

Once again, thanks for the help!
