Looking forward to working with you all throughout the 2016 Great Lakes season!

This is an open thread for all of us to chat before our season. Open topic and discussions; feel free to ask anything.

I've reflected on the 2015 feedback notes I received.
The Good:
-- Communications (pre/post event emails)
-- Open Passing
-- To the point downloads
-- Simulated starts (rolling, standing, inverse grid)
-- Handouts (track notes, capturing data/info, corner analysis)

The OK:
-- Give a few more minutes for introductions and tell everyone personal goals
I'll work on incorporating this for 2016. We may do formal intros after the first session if timing is tight.

-- Track map at download
On one of the handouts, I'll put a track map on the back page.

The Eh:
-- Downloads in an enclosed area
We'll fight the DE1 and DE2 group and take over their meeting areas ;) Depends on track and race cars are loud. Will look into some solutions.

-- Request for 2 laps under standing yellow for all sessions
Sorry. No can do. Why? Because racing. This is all about preparing you to be a track badass. Part of that is learning how to manage tire temperatures and getting up to speed as the tires come in. In racing, qualifying and testing is green-green-green! Tip: weaving back and forth does NOT build up heat into the tires. It does removed marbles (so just 10s worth is good). Acceleration and braking warms up a tire (brakes too for the latter). Making step speed increases from the 1st lap to hot lap is how to get tires warmed up. Do NOT: go 5/10ths, weave back and forth, block faster cars. :)

The "oOo can we?":
-- Technical classroom time (brakes, tires, safety, etc).
I'll ping Jay (busy guy these days at the track) about doing a braking tech course. And if you guys give me some things you want to know about tires, I can talk for whomever wants to listen. Or get a coworker to come.

-- More hands on, 1-1, mono-e-mono...
Drive, car, both evaluations. Some took me up on taking them out last year in my car. More are welcomed! Happy to ride with you too. Just ask me - there is more we can do here and I will tailor this to the person. Email, call, or PM me here to discuss pre-season.

-- Endro sessions
Friday we have the time to run 25-30 min sessions. Truth be told, most street cars (counting mild track prep'd) do not like extended running as much as you might. This is a good lesson on conserving your machine and equipment. I am sure we will have these in 2016 as well.
